Christmas Eve, 2012

Here it is, Christmas Eve, 2012.  Where has the year gone?  We're skipping our family Christmas party this year; however, we will see all our kids today.  Our oldest DD & her family are in from The Woodlands and will stop by for a quick visit this AM.  After evening Church, we'll have a small buffet here and our other DD & oldest DS will come by with their families.  Of course, our youngest DS lives with us and will be here.  Hope other families are getting together at this festive time.
Since I've finished the Memory Quilts, I feel like I'm missing something, lol.  I spent so much time sewing these last three weeks; haven't started anything else as I'm preparing for Christmas finally.  I'm posting another quilt; it's the only one with denim on the front and a vintage flannel on the back.   My selling blog has the Memory Quilts listed now -- check it out.

Finished Memory Quilts!

So much for posting about my progress on the Memory Quilts, lol.  I stayed busy from December 3rd until last night when I washed the last two quilts.  My customer picked up the 7 lap quilts today and was so pleased that she cried.  She has been a wonderful customer and even payed more than we had agreed on.  I'm hoping this is the beginning of a new career for me.  I'm still trying to figure out my price list.  I'm positive I charged less than I should have on these first ones.  However, I look on it as a learning experience.  Here are 3 of the quilts:

Beginning Memory Quilts

Here it is the middle of the night and I'm wide awake.  I went to bed early, but woke up with my mind thinking of new ideas.  I've had an order for some memory quilts and have finally started them.  There will be seven lap sized quilts in all.  I've never done them; but there is always a first time, right?  I want them all a little different and think I've come up with a plan.  I'm lucky that my customer is the best ever; and she's leaving everything up to me.  Also, it's very good that there are lots of clothes to choose from.  I'll blog about my progress.  Later on today, I'll have to take a photo of the beginning squares.  Forgot to take a photo of the clothes before I started cutting them up.  As a note, it was hard to take that first cut, lol.  If anyone has any ideas, I would surely appreciate them.  I'm doing this project as I've done most of my other quilting projects -- doing research on the internet and praying for the best.  I'm also keeping track of my expenses and my time.  I know I've undercharged, but this is a learning experience for me.  Wish me luck!

Birthday Time!

Today is an important day; it's my 3rd DGS's birthday.  He's 15 and looking forward to driving soon.  Happy Birthday, Gabe!
Oh, he doesn't like to take pictures.  Here's a picture of him when he was 5 and at Comedy Cuts.

Cyper Monday!

Did everyone have as good a Thanksgiving as I did?  It was wonderful having most of my immediate family here -- 3 of our 4 kids and 6 of our 8 grandkids.  I finally put leftovers in the freezer; there was just too much!
From Friday thru Sunday, I worked on a patriotic quilt; will show a photo after it's washed.  This week I hope to work on small items for a Craft Show I'm doing on Saturday.  I was going to make some more rice bags, but finally found the ones I had made.
Today is Cyper Monday.  So, I'm having a sale....  Just contact me and I'll discount any item 10% off.

Wednesday, November 14th

Hello!  I've been trying to post a blog all day; was so busy this is first time I could do so.  Today was another quilting day at the Senior Center.  It was kinda wild, but also fun.  There is a group learning about crazy quilting.  As much as I love doing crazy quilting, I didn't want to start another project.  We had started doing scrappy strip blocks a couple of weeks ago and the ladies wants me to finish a quilt for our Sale.  So, that's what I worked on.  The blocks will be traditional, but will be put together in the raggy style.  I'll post photos when it's finished.  The sale is December 1st, so I don't have much time.....
I've also finished another two market totebags.  I'm keeping them simple -- only side pockets on the outside.  That way, the inside is perfect for carrying groceries, meds, etc.  Here is the newest floral one; I'll post a photo of the purple one later.

November 12

So, how was your day?  Mine was busy, busy.  I cleaned house, sewed a little, babysat a little.  Even got to see our youngest DGS & our oldest DS for a little while.  I finished three more kiddie mat covers; they're so cute!  I'm listing one on etsy; hope to sell the other two at Josh's Day Care.
Here is a photo of my latest raggy tablerunner.  It measures about 20" by 35" and is for sale.  If it doesn't sell by Christmas, it will be on my table for Christmas dinner, lol.

It's November!

Hello!  November is just speeding by.  On November 3rd, my DH & I celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary.  Can't believe it's been so many years, lol.
My DS asked me to make a pillowcase for a kiddie mat for his DS.  I did something a little different; it came out cute!  Here's a photo:
I do One of a Kind (OOAK) items, so won't do a pillowcase exactly like this one.  However, it might be similiar.  If anyone is interested, just e-mail me with theme and colors.

Cool day today!

Good Morning!  Here in southeast Texas we have mostly warm weather -- very little winter.  Well, it turned cool during the weekend.  I don't expect the cool weather to last long, but it is kinda cool outside.  Time to take out those cozy quilts.  If you would like me custom made by me, just e-mail.  I've been making geneous lap quilts; about 50" by 60"; let me know your choice of color and if for man, woman or child.  Here's one I did a while back.....

I Spy Square Set

Good Morning! I didn't think my life could get any busier, but it has, lol. As some of you may know, my DH has been recuperating at my DD's house from major surgery. He returned last Saturday evening and I haven't stopped since then. He can take care of himself mostly, but I am helping him some. One thing he still can't do is cook; and remember, he cooks and I quilt! Well, my DS asked me to make a foil pocket last week. Yesterday, I decided that would make a good dinner. In the first place, I forgot how long it took to cut up the veggies, but it was pretty good, I think. Here is my simple recipe: layer a pan with foil; add 2.5 lbs of ground meat, season to taste. Add onion slices, cut up carrots, potatoes, squash, broccoli or whatever veggies you like. Sprinkle onion soup mix and Cajun seasoning over top. Layer foil over top. Bake 400 degrees for a hour and a half. Enjoy! For the whole recipe, check out my cookbook after I complete it. (It's been in the works for a while now, but I hope to finish it next year.)
I'm still working on square sets in my spare time. I had a special order for I Spy squares. The sizes are 5", but I also do 4". I'm posting a photo of one of the sets; each set will be different, though. I love to use these novelty squares in my I Spy blankies or quilts.

If you are interested, you can visit my etsy store, RaggyAnne, or e-mail.

Red Raggy Tote

It's finally not summer; feels great!  Hope the rain holds off for a little; I like it just like this, lol.
After I made the fall raggy tote, I decided to "play around".  I made a raggy tote, without the Xs and inside pockets.  I did add two outside side pockets.  I'm calling this a Market Bag as it's perfect to put groceries in; size is 12.5" x 12.5" x 4.5" and handle drop of 4.5".  I can make these in colors of your choice.  They will be listed in my selling blog.
ps:  If this one doesn't sell, it wil be mine!

Raggy Fall Tote

How is your weekend?  Mine's a little quieter than usual.  Sometimes there are DGKs running all over; today has been just one 3-year old.  The other one will be here soon, so noise level will increase, lol.  I'm just been taking it easy.  Soon, I'll get back to the blue quilt I'm working on for the Senior Center.  The sandwiches are ready to be sewn into rows.
Here is a photo of my newest raggy tote.  It's done in fall earthtones colors and is a medium size.  Has nice pockets inside, too.  It will be listed in my selling blog, RaggyAnne.

Good early Morning!

Don't you hate when you wake up extra early and can't fall back to sleep?  Unfortunately, I do that all the time.  What do you do?  I either "play" on computer, read or sew.  Today I decided to blog, lol.
I'm posting two photos of my newest patriotic quilt.  I started this a while back.  I offered to trade fabrics with some of my friends so I could make a quilt for charity.  Of course, my wonderful friends just sent blocks.  I made one quilt, but had blocks left over.  So, I added a few more blocks and made a raggy, sampler quilt.  If or when it sells, the profit will go toward shipping care packages to military.  It is about 48" by 58" and has 100% cotton on front and back and flannel on the inside.  Please e-mail me if you are interested.

Sewing weekend!

Hope everyone had a good weekend; I did.  My DD and her three kids were here, but I did manage to sew.  I finished a patriotic raggy quilt I started sometime back.  Also, made a medium raggy totebag from fall prints.  I also cut some more square sets.  I will post the quilt and purse after they are washed.  I have the square sets listed in my selling blog; check them out!

Square Sets

Hello!  I feel human again.  Every week I get my hair done on Tuesday; last week I had to miss.  Feels so good to have gone today; thanks, Cathy!

I have some quilt kits (square sets) listed in my selling blog, RaggyAnne.  Check them out.  There are sizes ranging from 2 inches to 8.5 inches.

Quilt Tops For Sale

Hello again!  I have made several quilt tops to sell and need to move them soon.  My youngest DD had her purse stolen last weekend.  The police did deliver her wallet Sunday PM; however her debit cards and cash was missing.  As some of you may know, she sells Avon and that is her way to support her and her young DD.  The cash in her wallet was from orders delivered that day.  The money I receive from these quilt tops will be used to replace the money stolen from her.   Here are the photos:

The Tumbler quilt top is about 36" by 40" and is $15.  The Roses quilt top is about 37" by 45" and is $22.50.  The Floral Patchwork Quilt Top is about 40" by 48" and is $25.  The Butterfly Patchwork quilt top is about 36" by 50" and is $25.  The Roses D9P is 47" by 47" and is $35.  The shipping can be by first class or priority.  Any of these quilt tops can be added to make a larger quilt top.  Any questions, please e-mail me.  Thanks for your interest.

Good Morning!

I can't believe it's already October!  Where has the year gone?  I've been busy, busy sewing and babysitting.  We have three granddaughters; they all have birthdays within four weeks.  Meagan turned 4 yesterday; Sarah will be 13 soon; and Maddie will be 4 on the 28th of October.
Lately, I've been cutting up more squares.  I have 4 inch and 5 inch squares sets ready to sell.  I also have some quilt tops that I'll finish if I don't sell them soon.  Hope you are keeping busy also.

I Spy charm 4 inch squares

There is a cool front here.  Of course, it's all of 85 degrees; guess that's good as it's been in the high 90s.  I'm thinking the A/C vent isn't working in the kitchen; I'm boiling some chicken and it sure is hot in there, lol.
I did work on the 4 inch squares.  Stopped at 48 different fabrics; I'm sure I have more, but didn't want to go digging.  Here's a photo of one of my listings:

What a year!

I don't believe I'll ever say that it can't get worst.  My DH had emergency sugery.  He's out of the hospital after eight days and is recuperating.  It's been a wild three years -- from the fire until this latest surgery.
I've been keeping busy watching DGDs, Meagan & Maddie, and working on I Spy squares.  I just listed three sets on etsy -- check them out!  My next project is to list 4" squares; I'm hoping to find 100 different prints.  I might be able to make it if I combine both boys & girls fabrics.  Here is a set I haven't listed yet.

Raggy Quilt, Raggy Totebag

Hello!  I've been keeping myself busy doing raggy stuff this month.  Our small town has a wonderful Senior Center; our quilting ladies meet on Wednesday.  Some of the ladies are working on a hand-sewn, hand-quilted Southern Belle quilt.  I decided to work on raggy items instead.  Our Director asked me to teach a class.  The 1st week we did a raggy runner; the 2nd week I gave out the instructions for a raggy quilt.  This week I did raggy totes.  (I'll show a photo of the totes after they are washed.)  We had fun and I think the ladies enjoyed the classes.

Monday, August 6, 2012

Hello after a long absence.  This has been an eventful summer for me. The night before Memorial Day, I fell in my den and broke my shoulder. It was a clean break, so it had to heal on it's own. Needless to say, I "lost" the month of June. Now, after P/T, I'm better than I was before, though I wouldn't want to repeat that accident, lol. My therapist did tell me I did good by starting to sew when I did (waited until my doctor told me I could take off sling.)
I've made sachets, rice bags, mouse pads and am now working on a raggy quilt for the Senior Center. Yesterday I started listing again on the internet. Check out my quilt tops on eBay and etsy. Here's a link....... http://www.ebay.com/itm/300755870992?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
and here's a photo of one of the quilt tops.

Good Morning!

Can you believe it's already May 23rd?  Where has the month gone?  I've been busy sewing, babysitting, and cleaning house.  What have you been doing?
It is time again to work in my sewing room.  I had stopped to adjust to my "new" eyes, but time to get back to it.  Especially since I've brought some more fabrics from our old house.  I knew I had some more there somewhere, lol.
Have a great Wednesday!

I Spy blankie

Good Morning!  Yesterday was a wonderful Mother's Day!  My sweet DIL, Laurie, took a photo of Josh holding the newest I Spy blankie.  Josh is our youngest DGS; Meagan is sitting next to him.  They are loving cousins.  (If the photo doesn't show up, check my etsy items.)

May 10, 2012

I didn't realize it had been so long since I had posted. I've been busy sewing and preparing for my 2nd cataract surgery, which was a success. Now, I just have to wait to order my new glasses. Of course, I'm using cheap reading glasses for now. They have allowed me to read, sew and do computer work, but I can't wait to get some "real" glasses. Here is my latest sewing; an I Spy girlie blankie. This is perfect for your toddler to drag around instead of a larger quilt. Check out my selling blog, Raggy Anne Creations for more quilts.

Happy Easter!

Hope everyone had a good Easter. We did! It's always nice to share special meals with family members, though we did miss our oldest daughter & her family.
I've been sewing pillowcase dresses again. This time, I'm also making doll dresses to match; they fit the 18" dolls. They are listed on eBay right now; I need to add them to my selling blog.

Bright Market Bag

Good Morning! It seems a little overcast today. Where is our pretty Spring weather? lol Here is the completed market tote. It came out about 16" by 16" by 5.5". Check out my selling blog; these market bags are now for sale.

Sunday, April 1, 2012

Good Morning, April 1st!

Where has the year gone? It seems like it's zipping away. I've been keeping busy with sewing and grandkids, not necessarily in that order, lol. My main project for the year is reorganizing my sewing room. I have made headway, but still not finished. I do pretty good, then I just HAVE to stop to sew. The last few days I've been trading with other quilters. I've cut out squares and strips; also am making a tote to trade for a paper piece book. My friend wanted brights, so I sent her these photos. Thank goodness, she liked them. I love brights, but don't have a lot in my stash. While I'm working on this tote (it will be a large market-type tote for her to take to her LQS for her purchases), I'm also working on a raggy tote in the same colors. I'll post a photo when it's completed.
Have a peaceful Sunday!

Paper Piece Blocks

Our weather has been so pretty. But today we had rain; hope it clears up soon. I've been staying inside sewing. I joined a paper pieced row robin; here are my 1st blocks for my own row. Aren't they pretty?

Pincushions

The weather here in southeast Texas is so pretty; it's almost like summer. I was asked to make a smaller pincushion, so I made a few. Here are two of them; they are stuffed with steel wool. These will be listed in etsy or you can contact me.

It's March!

Seems like the year is flying by; it's already the 13th day of March. I'm still sewing up a storm. Here is the latest boy I Spy raggy quilt I made. I can make whatever size you want; just ask.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Today is Tuesday!

Good Morning! Hopefully, we'll have a few dry days. Wish we could have shared some of our rain from the last few days, lol. The rain didn't bother me, though; I just stayed in and sewed. Here's my latest project -- pincushions. I just love making them. The ones pictured here are 6.5" to 7"; they are now listed in etsy. Have a great Tuesday!

Sunday, February 5, 2012

Peaceful Sunday....

It's been raining for a couple of days; it finally stopped today. Now, it's almost winter again. Good time to snuggle up in a warm quilt. My friend received her blue/yellow raggy quilt, which is about 46" by 58". I also made a girl I Spy quilt, which is about 36" square. You will notice that no two prints are identical; that is why all my quilts are one of a kind. If you're interested, I can custom make you a raggy quilt.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

Good Morning, Wednesday, February 1st!

Good Morning! It's February 1st and it's muggy and drizzling, but I'm still glad to be alive. How about you?
I've been busy sewing and babysitting. What a great combination! I've been working on a special order; she wanted a blue & yellow raggy lap quilt. I'll post it as soon as it arrives in North Carolina.
Today I'm going to start on an I Spy raggy quilt. I only have one little blankie left to sell -- after all the ones I've made in the past. Maybe I'll make more than one, lol. Here is a photo of one of my I Spy quilts.
Have a great day!

Two new quilt tops

We are having beautiful weather here in southeast Texas. Hope it continues! I'm keeping myself busy working on my stash. I've completed two quilt tops; one is Happy Houses and the other one is scrappy strip blocks. The sad thing is I found even more strips as I was putting these two quilts together, lol. If you are interested, just "contact me".

Monday, January 9, 2012

Good Morning, 2012!

Good Morning! I sure hope 2012 is better for me than 2011, lol. I started off the year waiting for my surgery; and ended up not feeling well. Last Saturday was the 1st almost normal day for me since last November. Even though I haven't felt like doing much, I have slowly continued sewing. My latest project was two quilt tops I made to sell. They are listed in eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300647449128?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649.
I've also been working on my 2" postage stamp quilt. I'll post pictures of my blocks soon; I believe there are about 20 now. I'm not sure of my setting; I'll have to think on that. Hope you all have a great Monday!
