Quiet Saturday......

Last weekend was hectic; this weekend is so much quieter. Can't believe none of my grandkids are here. Maybe somebody will show up tomorrow? We did have a nice visit with our son and his darling wife. Did I post here that they are expecting in July? This will be our 8th grandchild and I'm just as excited as the first one. Can't believe that 1st one will be graduating from high school this year! How fast they grow up.
I'm showing photos of some Santa blocks I've made. Today I added a 3rd round to a mystery quilt I'm working on. Wonder what the next clue will be?

Listing vintage fabrics.....

I've been working in stored boxes again. There is way too much fabric, so I'm starting to list them. I'm starting off with the vintage ones. Some I had in storage; some I inherited from my mother. I have them listed on eBay, etsy, and will be listing in Raggy Anne blog daily. If you are looking for a particular color or weight, let me know. The bottom photo is a flannel with a neat border; the middle photo is a lighter weight cotton; the top photo is a cotton blend.

Good Morning, Saturday!

Good Morning! Don't know why I'm up so early, have a full house so am limited to my bedroom. So, here I am on my PC, lol.
My friend, Annie, finished updating my selling blog last night. She is a talented Prim artist; however, she is a whiz on computers also. Thanks, Annie! You can visit her blog at http://www.oldeannieprimitives.blogspot.com. Hope I've typed that right; for some reason, I can't copy & paste at this time. Oh, Annie! I need you already, lol.
My DD, Janice, is here with her family. She is going to her Avon Christmas party today and it's easier if kids are here in the AM. Especially since 2 of them stay up late and sleep late. We have people sleeping in every room in house, except for my sewing room. Ane that's only because there's no room for anything except sewing stuff, lol.
If you have time, visit our Raggy Anne blog. I will be updating it daily until it's full again. Hope you're enjoying this Christmas season.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. I remember all the wonderful days from years past. In my youth, we went to my grandparents house in Louisiana. My mother was the youngest of 6 siblings; all were still living at the time. Grandma's house was overflowing with uncles, aunts, and cousins. In later years, we spent the day at our other grandparents' house in Groves. Dad was one of 3; so, we spent day with aunts, uncles and cousins also. After both sets of grandparents were gone, we spent the day at my parents' house. As the years went by, my two brothers and I added spouses, children, and grandkids to our mixture. Even though I treasure all those years, I'm thankful for the prenent day. Today Rochelle & I will be having dinner with our oldest son & our youngest daughter and their families. We'll miss our other daughter & son and their families. I am especially thankful for my husband of 39 years.

I hope everyone is having as pretty weather as we are. The is the type of weather I could live with all year. Been busy with grandkids. Madison is spending the weekend here with her dad and Meagan has been here also. So cute to see the two year old cousins playing and sharing.

I've also taken the time to list on both eBay and etsy. My latest project is rice bags. They're so much fun! I make 3 different sizes: small, 4.5 x 5; medium, 4.5 x 9; and large, 4.5 x 13. I also can make any color or theme you want. Here is a couple photos. Just fill out the contact form at bottom of my blog if you are interested.

Have a peaceful Sunday!

eBay and etsy auctions

I've been busy listing on both eBay and etsy. My DH & I emptied a storage building; we've had it so long we could have probably bought a new one, lol. In it, I found fabrics from the 60s thru the 80s. I've been washing fabrics and listing every day. Haven't sold very much; but at least it's a start.
I've also been babysitting Meagan. Her mom, Janice, is now selling both Avon and Tupperware. She hands out flyers with all 3 ventures together -- Avon, Tupperware and raggy items. If anyone needs anything, fill out the Contact Me form at bottom of my blog and I will send her e-mail addy.
Here are two of my fabrics:

Raggy Totes

I'm still sewing! I've made several raggy totebags to sell. I can do any color combos you would like. These are purple/white, yellow/white, and purple/creme.

Sunday, September 19, 2010

Today has been a quiet, peaceful day. For the first time in a while, it was just DH & myself. Good thing we still "like" each other, lol. I'm doing a calico swap in one of my groups. This weekend, I worked on some extra blocks. When the swap is finished, I hope to put together two quilts, one to keep, one to sell. Here are some of the blocks I hav made:

I'm back!

Hello! I'm back finally. We've been back in our house since the middle of June; however, it's been a whirlwind. We've had to buy new furniture, linens, plasticware, staples, etc. We're still emptying boxes and moving things around. I would never suggest having a house fire, but it is nice to have a new kitchen. Here are some photos of part of my kitchen. I do love the new pantry, with the deep, deep shelves.
I've also been busy making raggy totebags. My new DIL, Laurie, has been getting orders for me. I will be posting photos in my selling blog soon. I'm so glad to be back and will be posting regularly again. Bye for now.....

Long Absence

Sorry I've been missing for so long. I was busy working on charm table runners and started a new charm quilt. Then we had a house fire. I know how lucky we were that no one was hurt and our house did not burnt down. However, we did lose our kitchen and den. The only furniture saved out of those rooms were my mother's rocker and my DH's little table. There is smoke and water damage; I'm still hoping to save my sewing room. I'll see after the Recover team does their job. I do have to say that we have a wonderful insurance company. I don't know if I can name it, but the initials are S F. We had a good policy and they are treating us more than fair. We are using their Premier groups; so far, have a recovery team, a building team and a textile clean up team. This happened on Wednesday night; by Thursday, we were visited by the adjuster, the recovery team and the contractor. By Friday, the kitchen & den were already emptied. Saturday, those two rooms were demolished. Today, they're starting in the Living Room. Even though I'm not doing any of the physical work, I'm having to say keep or toss, so it's very emotional.
I am also thankful that all the items up for sale in my selling blog was in airtight totes. I am planning on putting it on vacation mode, though; at least until the clean up is finished.
Warning to everyone: have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen!
I'll be back when I can......

Handmade I Spy Raggy Quilt

I took a break from the charms I've been cutting out. I had these I Spy charms cut out since last year. I finished it today. Two years ago, I decided to make a quilt for each one of my grandchildren. I had made three of them; this one will be for Gabe. Now, I only have the three girls to make.

New Charm Quilt Top

I decided to sew together some charms into a quilt top. Are you asking what is a charm quilt? Each square is a different print -- no duplications. This one is 45" square. It will be listed on etsy.

Now selling quilt squares

This weekend I've had fun working on a table runner for a friend. Can't show a photo until she receives it, but will post a photo when I can. I think I'll make another one for myself.
Tomorow I'll be back to cutting out charm squares. I've decided I will try to sell quilt squares on etsy. I listed three today. Check out my etsy shop. (I've not listed the squares shown in the photo yet.)
It's been fun as I've found fabric I forgot I had.

Cold, dreary Thursday

Well, I thought it was cold yesterday, but today it's raining and it's cold. OK, what happened to my warm southeast Texas weather? I want it back!
I laid some of my log cabine blocks on the floor; this would make a good lap top quilt or the beginning of a larger one.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Hello!

Brr... is it cold where you live? I know it's no where near as cold here in southeast Texas, but still too cold for me, lol. I finally started listing some of the traditional blocks I've been working on. Have had fun with them. Here is a Sawtooth Block I've done:

If you are interesting in any of my blocks, just e-mail me at bottom of page. thanks for looking!

Friday, February 5th

Sorry it's been so long since I posted. My laptop wouldn't boot up, so it's at my son's house to be worked on. I sure hope I have it back soon; this PC is soooo slow and I hate the chair. Since I'm not on the computer as much, I have been able to sew a lot, lol.
My latest project is Log Cabin blocks. I have listed some on eBay and soon will list some on etsy. Check out this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Log-Cabin-quilt-blocks-Handmade-QCG-28_W0QQitemZ300393520709QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item45f0d95e45. I have several auctions listed, so check them out.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Thursday, the 28th

I was just reading in my friend's blog; she posted some of her history. I thought it was interesting, so thought I would write a little about myself. Even though I've lived in Texas all my life, I'm not a "native". My mother went home to her hometown to have all three of her children. So, my birthplace is Crowley, LA; I call myself a cajun Texan, lol. At six weeks old, I came to Texas and have lived here every since. I do have lots of relatives left in Crowley; not as many as the oldest generation have passed away. At one of the aunts funeral, my cousins and I realized we are the oldest ones now. How strange! We had a few family reunions a few years back; maybe they'll do another one sometime. Of course, it will make me sad, as my parents were still alive for the last one. OK, enough for now. I'll post again another day.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Finally!

I finally finished my latest raggy quilt. This is truely a OOAK (one of a kind). I used some scrappy strip blocks from a swap I did years ago; plus I made more blocks. The size is 46" x 56" and has a charm border. I will be listing this quilt soon; not sure where yet.

Peaceful January Sunday

I'm so glad it's not rainy today. It's almost like spring here in southeast Texas. So glad some of my grandkids live close to us. Here are our two youngest DGKs. Meagan is now 16 mos. and Madison is now 15 mos. They both love grandpa!
I'm still working on the scrappy strip quilt. Almost through with the inside; I'm still thinking of the border.....

Friday, January 22, 2010

Yea Friday!

Even though I'm now retired, I still love the weekends. It's a free, relaxed time. This weekend I'm hoping to get back to my reorganization of my sewing room. It might take me all year, but it will be done in 2010!
I did manage to list some auctions on eBay. Here is one of them: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300389124929&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT. Check them out. I do love making the scrappy strips. Today I'm putting together a raggy quilt from blocks I swapped in an eBay group years ago. I'll post a photo when it's completed.

Saturday, January 9, 2010

Brr, it's cold outside!

I have spent the last few days trying to stay warm. I know lots of you are colder than we've been, but, hey, this is southeast Texas! Today it's finally warmed to 40 degrees and will be getting warmer every day.
I've been busy sewing. I'm trying my hand at quilt block kits. Will be posting them as soon as anything is ready.
I snagged the photo from one of my eBay groups. Isn't it too cute?
bye for now!

Sunday, January 3, 2010

HELLO!

I've been busy reorganizing my sewing room. Found so much fabric, won't need to buy any more for quite a while, lol. Seriously, I will be listing fabric in my blog; also vintage fabric in etsy. If you are looking for certain colors or prints, just e-mail me. I also found so many quilt tops; going to be listing some also, as no way can I ever quilt them all. It will take me a while to list, as we're preparing for our son's wedding in less than two weeks. We are so looking forward to adding a wonderful daughter in law to our family.
